Write the placement brief
State what you will plant, where it must be placed and what preparation will already be complete. Include parcel size and access information. Ask the supplier which machine and setup serve that objective; do not choose a drill solely by working width.
The linked Land Pride drill operator manual points to separate seed-rate instructions. Keep operating requirements and seed-rate settings as distinct parts of your preparation.
Build a calibration record
Create a worksheet with the seed identity, target rate, machine settings, test area and measured output. Leave room for the adjustment and repeat test. This is a planning record, not a substitute for the calibration procedure in the relevant manual.
Seed changes, machine settings and actual conditions should remain attached to the record so a successful setup is not assumed to apply to a different job.
Include the support work
List filling, travel to the filling point, turns and checking stops. Decide which are included in the field-efficiency assumption and which receive a separate time allowance. Count each delay once.
Try different widths in the field-capacity calculator to compare hypothetical schedules. The fastest mathematical scenario does not establish that the machine can deliver the desired placement or that the tractor can operate it.
Review weight and connections
Ask for the relevant machine weight in the condition you will use, including the proposed seed load. Compare it with the tractor’s rated limits at the specified measurement point. Write PTO, hydraulic, electrical and hitch requirements as separate lines where the selected machine uses them.
Before requesting a quotation, assemble the placement brief, calibration plan and timing estimate. That package gives a supplier something concrete to evaluate and makes missing information visible before purchase.
